Happy new year, I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and break. I love this period as the celebrations die with our NYE hangovers. Then between cleaning up the presents I reflect on the year just gone and what I achieved, 2019 was like always a year full of ups and downs. So as always here are my highlights.

The start of 2019 was tough. It took me a while to adjust to my new job and living with my boyfriend and his family. I became pretty borning while adjusting to getting up at 6:30 and not wanting to do anything after work so it was a slow start of the year. None the less Mike and I enjoyed two romantic nights out in Falmouth first staying at Cutty Sark (review here) and then The Chain locker (review here).
I took a trip up to Bristol for a night out with my three uni friends and a home friend which was much needed and I would do once a month if it was easier to organise.

By the time Spring came along I was a lot more settled in my job and new life here. I had made amazing friendships at the office with some amazing girls who have helped me adjust to adult life in Falmouth smoothly. We had nights out for birthdays and I took my first trip to a spa which was 10/10. Read the review of my trip to St.Michaels spa here. I then celebrated my birthday which was one of the best yet. My work friends spoilt me, we had cocktails at The Greenbank, two of my uni friends drove down for a night out and a day in St.Ives then my parents surprised me with a visit and we explored some beaches and had the best roast ever (at Bear Bar, St.Agnes).

In summer things just kept getting better. For the last 5 years, I’ve had like three months of school/university for summer so it was weird being in the office the whole time instead of on the beach with my friends but that didn’t stop summer still being my best season this year.
INWED (international women in engineering day) happened, I had been on the project team preparing the events our company was hosting for months. We hosted a school event with activities and competitions for the kids which we followed with a business networking event with speakers and Q and A panel. It was the most empowering day listening to some amazing women in STEM talk about their careers and all of my colleagues working together seeing all the hard work pay off was the best day.
Then my family came down for a week in a caravan for our family holiday, Mike came along and it was the most chilled out week off from work I needed. I also took the opportunity to explore even more of Cornwall like St.Michaels Mount and North Cornwall.
Finally, I finally got my shit together and re-launched this blog. I worked on the new web design. My friend did a fab job on the logo and I collaborated with the best photographer – read more here.

September was bittersweet as two of the best friends at work who had been my rocks were leaving but we had the best-leaving party. We also had a marketing department meal to the best new restaurant in Falmouth, called Indidog which was the best night out.
Mike and I then took a trip to Birmingham to visit one of my best friends. I’d been before but this time I really fell in love with the city. We went to some of the coolest pubs I’ve ever been in with music in the beer garden coming from record players. We went to a club in Digbeth that was like stepping back into the 60s with a jazz band and everyone dancing. It was the best trips.
Around this time I got confirmation at work that I got a promotion. I joined the company on a 12-month maternity contract role now I am starting 2020 on a permanent, coordinator role. Celebrations all round.
My uni friends all drove down to Falmouth for a weekend to re-live uni, we got an Airbnb in town and went out a lot like old times which was amazing.
Finally, we had my works Christmas party which was at Scorrier house, I’d never had a proper Christmas party, it was very corporate and intense but I have amazing friends at work so between the insane amounts of free wine and fabulous people we had the best night.
2019, wasn’t always shinny at times I hated my living situation, struggled at work a lot and missed my friends and family. But that’s all part of adjusting to adult life so all in all, it was an amazing year.
I didn’t complete all of the goals I set myself for 2019. I only read three books, I am still yet to pass my driving test but between getting my promotion, relaunching my blog and learning how to save money I am still super proud of my year.
