The best veggie roasts in Bath

January 20, 2026

If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know I take my Sunday roasts very seriously, especially when it comes to vegetarian options. After the success of my Best Veggie Roasts in Bristol guide, it made sense to continue the reviews over in Bath.

Bath is one of my favourite nearby cities for a day out. It’s also home to some truly incredible restaurants such as Beckford Canteen and Walcott House, as well as lots of great pubs. Whether you’re Bristol-based and fancy a day trip, visiting Bath for the weekend, or a local looking to switch up your usual Sunday spot, this guide is all about celebrating the places serving up proper veggie roasts: golden roasties, rich gravy, seasonal veg and mains that feel just as indulgent as the meat options.

I’ll be updating this list regularly as I eat my way through more of Bath’s best roasts (tough job, I know), so feel free to bookmark it and check back for new additions.

The Bird – Pulteney Rd

We recently headed to one of my go-to spots in Bath, The Bird, for a Sunday roast. Safe to say the standards for this list are high, I may have already found Bath’s best vegetarian roast.

First things first, the interiors. The Bird is one of those places you instantly want to sink into and stay all afternoon. Cosy, stylish, and full of character, the kind of setting that makes a long, slow Sunday lunch feel extra special.

But the food? That’s where things really get exciting. I’m usually a dessert-first kind of girl, but the starter menu was far too tempting to resist. I went for the crab & celeriac crumpet, while Mike had the Bath chap with crispy squid and apple. Both were beautifully presented, full of flavour and felt genuinely creative, a sign of what was to come.

Now onto the main event… I chose the butternut & smoked cheddar Wellington, hands down my favourite veggie roast option when it’s done right, and Mike went for the chicken supreme. Every roast comes with: perfectly crispy roast potatoes, carrots, buttered greens, Yorkshire puddings, rich, flavour-packed gravy…and, we absolutely had to add the cauliflower cheese on the side too.

Sometimes restaurants of this quality lean into smaller, daintier portions… but not The Bird. The plates were generous, everything was cooked beautifully, and every single element hit the mark.

Those roasties? Golden and crisp.
The gravy? Deep, rich and full of flavour.
The veg? Fresh, vibrant and perfectly cooked.
The Wellington? Comforting, indulgent and packed with flavour.

It’s the kind of roast you think about days later.

If you’re looking for a standout vegetarian roast in Bath, whether you’re visiting for the day from Bristol or planning a cosy Sunday lunch, The Bird needs to be top of your list. Book a table at The Bird here.
