Statement accessories are the way forward.

Hey guys, I’ve always stuck to the rule of buying those basics and staple pieces usually in black. Things like tights, bags, boots etc I always get in black so they go with everything right? Which on the surface sounds sensible. However, I’ve then ended up with impulsively bought bright, printed main pieces (skirts, dresses etc) that are harder to style together well.

However, I’ve recently turned that rule on its head and found it so much more efficient. To keep your key pieces simple – those main elements of an outfit – plain jeans, a plain black dress or plain knitwear. Those pieces that will never need replacing and you can wear year in year out no matter the trends. But using the statement accessories to have fun with a trend i.e some tights like these. Can we just take a moment to appreciate the tights, all my favourite colours in a dreamy seventies floral, I may have waited months for them to come back into stock but it has been worth it.

These tights are still a super bold example and you have to be somewhat comfortable with bold prints to wear them however if you are scared of colour and print in your wardrobe always start with accessories. Not only is it a more efficient way for us shopaholics its also a great way to build your confidence with colour and print. Take a plain black dress (one like this is perfect as loungewear or dressing up), plain boots your usual winter coat but add one print or one piece of colour where you can. The main thing is to just have fun with it.

Let me know whether you prefer statement clothes or statement accessories? Love Charlotte xxx
