Celebrating Valentine’s in lockdown? Here are a few ways to celebrate at home. I’m not a huge fan of valentines day because its usually more expensive to eat out and nicer to celebrate at home which is perfect this year. If you are single or just don’t care in this third, dark and dreary lockdown its just a nice excuse to celebrate and have a treat so I’ve collated a list of a few of the fab services on offer in Cornwall (with a few national ones too at the end) to celebrate safely in style. I am also a huge fan of Galentine’s day which is celebrated on the 13th to celebrate friendship and during lockdown especially sending your best friends, some cakes or brownies is simply wonderful.

KernowCation is a wonderful event business currently offering ‘Night Under the Stars’ DIY date night hampers that can be delivered contact-free straight to your door. The perfect treat to spice up your lockdown evenings. Fill your room with a gorgeous starry atmosphere, spent eating sweets treats under a fairy light canopy.
One option includes the canopy, lights. star projector, ice cream station, popcorn and chocolate – you can either book a hamper date night or gift someone a voucher so they can choose when to use it.

Lucybakes – is offering a special valentines day hamper of amazing homebaked goodies, you can order via her Instagram here. We have tried a few and am obsessed with the brownies. Either with collection or local delivery.

Truly Cornish are baking fresh brownie and blondie slabs for Valentine’s Day this year with a bit of a twist… you can add your very own image or message onto each slab! Whether it’s a picture of your beloved pet or a photo from your wedding day, personalise your bake and make it the perfect gift this year. What’s more, these can be posted anywhere in the UK! Order by February 8th by visiting @trulycornish on Instagram or Facebook, or email hello@trulycornish.com.

Bread and Butter – Now there will be two types of people reading those thinking ‘What more brownie recommendations’ and those not evening questioning it. Bread and Butter in Truro (Used to be known as Emily’s) is known for their brownies, these are the classic brownies but most wonderful melt in mouth perfect brownies. One of those perfect places that whenever anyone visits me in Cornwall I take them here for a brownie. So now you can get a box of six in heart shapes delivered anywhere in the UK. Just contact them on Instagram or text 07495 275799 to order.

Indidog – Those of you missing the high-end restaurant experience of a traditional valentines night, Indidog’s new at-home kits will sort you right out. Indidog is quite possibly my favourite restaurant in Cornwall and can’t recommend the food enough. They have both a vegan and meat option to choose from but both menus feature a take on the classic wellington. The Beet Wellington is the mains dish in the vegan menu. While the mean Wellington is a piece of tender meat which is premium venison loin. It is then pasted with a layer of pate: duck pate around the venison and mustard around the beets, then a thin pancake to hold the moisture inside the meat (or beets) then a layer of puff pastry. It is just a matter of popping on a baking tray in an oven for 25 minutes and it’s done to perfection. The vegan option is £26pp for three-course and £40 per person for the meat version. The kit arrives all boxed up ready and they are releasing some handing how-to videos on social media so you can get that lively restaurant standard finish for the ultimate fine dining experience at home. You can purchase the menu’s here.
Bloom and Wild – Flowers are a classic at Valentine’s but there are no cliches this year as Bloom and Wild are avoiding roses. There is nowhere more special for flowers than Bloom and Wild the last bouquet I had from them stayed fresh for over four weeks. I do have a cheeky referral code where you can get £10 off your order here.
For those outside of Cornwall, my other dinner recommendation comes from Pasta Evangelists for wonderful high-quality Italian food, they have a variety of dishes to choose from that take around 5 minutes to prepare are its wonderful quality. Also great to send to someone else as a surprise – you can get a lil discount with them here.
However, you chose to celebrate this lockdown I hope this has given you some inspiration on date night ideas or little treats to send to friends (don’t forget Galentine’s Day on the 13th too) as we all need a little pick me up at the moment. Love Charlotte xxx
