Hey guys, Spring is here – although it’s nowhere near as warm as it was last year when we were in a full heatwave. The beer gardens, hairdressers and shops will open this week which means it’s nearly time to start thinking about our wardrobe outside of lockdown.

I was never one for loungewear the two-piece sweat sets that sold out everywhere. I am also a little bit fitter than I was before the first lockdown however this doesn’t mean I am ready to let go of elasticated comfy trousers every day. While I avoided loungewear trust me I found my way to wear comfy clothes and every look was finished off with my dressing gown (read more here).
While I admittedly spent a huge chunk of the last year in PJs and/or my dressing gown – due to my Instagram giving me a reason to get dressed and still not being able to resits online shopping I had way more fun with my style than before. The days I would be shooting or filming often would be the only day that week I would get properly dressed resulting in me having more fun with it.
Pre lockdown I would dress for the occasion – worrying what people would think or wondering if I would be the most overdressed person there. Getting dressed up just to take pictures may sound ridiculous but it meant I got dressed how I wanted to, styled the outfit purely for me and in turn began to have more confidence with my style. I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember but when I look back on my teen years or even at uni I fell into a uniform of jeans and a t-shirt. Where I live has always been super casual, you don’t have to worry about dressing ‘up’ or ‘appropriately’ for a fancy meal, perhaps even the opposite at events when I finally felt like I could dress up I’d usually still tone my look down knowing I’d look silly.
Following on from what I spoke about in this blog post on finding confidence with your style – I’ve found so many simple ways to stay in my comfort zone of jeans and T-shirts but making it a little bit more interesting. In our post lockdown world, I plan to continue having fun with my style – wearing the clothes I love because I want to without fear of being the most overdressed. I will never traipse around Cornish towns dressed like Iris Apfel (although I do wonder how different my style would be if I did live in a city like New York) but I will continue adding one more print, adding layers to my outfits and making use out of those beautiful dresses I have at the back of my wardrobe with nowhere fancy enough to wear them to.
Exactly as I did with this look adding the velvet top underneath for texture, swapping normal jeans for these star print flares is so simple but instantly changed the outfit from jeans and a vintage tee to a vaguely cool outfit with colour, print and texture.
How do you think lockdown has changed your style? Do you have more fun with your style now or dread having to ever wear actual clothes again? Let me know in the comments. Love Charlotte xxx
