Hey guys, while we are all trying to more aware of our shopping habits at the moment. While I will always love fast fashion and have discovered so many amazing sustainable fashion brands over the last year. In reality, the most sustainable clothes are those we already own and in circulation aka second-hand fashion so read on to find my favourite places for second hand fashion.

Now with the rise of Depop, Vinted and Tiktok the general view of charity shopping has completely changed. It’s already got to the point where people think it’s gone too far and is moaning about gentrification but that’s a different conversation. Tiktok is a magical place and everyone’s FYP is so different but over 60% of the fashion content I say is around styling what’s already in your wardrobe or charity shop hauls etc making it super cool. This is so different from when I was in school and charity shopping wasn’t cool at all.
However, I’ve never been a natural at charity shopping. I also spent ages wanting to love Depop but I hate the reselling culture especially from fast fashion brands, when crop tops that have sold out on Zara are going for £60 plus on Depop and people have ‘genuine vintage’ in multiple sizes it’s becoming harder to find the good stuff again, I’ve also found Ebay similar or maybe its because haven’t perfected the skills of when to bid and what keywords to search.
If like me you struggle on depop I can’t recommend the app Vinted more. Vinted is very similar to depop but it’s much smaller (for now) meaning you are a lot more likely to find bargains. It’s also a lot better for selling your clothes as there are no seller’s fees charged to you after you make a sale.
So from now on when I fall in love with an item on a fast-fashion site I will search it in depop, ebay and vinted and see if anyone is selling it first, if not I will still wait a few weeks to make sure I really want the item before I do purchase it from the fast-fashion brand.
This wonderful pink check dress was my first vinted purchase. It’s actually from a previous Spring summer collection at Topshop, I remember looking at it every time I’d pop in store loving it but I never purchased it as I didn’t ‘need’ it. I was close to purchasing when it went in the sale for £15 but never did. I randomly searched for it on depop as it started to get warmer and found so many of them for £20 (remembering it was £15 brand new in the store, I kept searching), found a few for around £15 on Ebay but as I went to Vinted I found this one brand new with the tags still on for £6. I have noticed this price pattern of each reselling site time and time again so if like me you love to hunt for the cheapest price possible, download vinted now if you haven’t already.
