Hey guys, so I never thought I’d be trying to write meaningless blog posts while we are in the middle of a global pandemic. I’m sure where ever you are reading this from its a scary time. Here in the UK we’ve been in lockdown for three weeks now and I’ve been working from home that time.

Like all of us I am having up and down days during this time. There is so much good to see in this a time away from our ridiculous lifestyles can be amazing for us mentally and for the environment. We depend so much on cars, corporate companies – the planet is going to thrive how it should now as no one is travelling or in big groups littering. The C02 emission levels are down dramatically which is amazing. There is also a lot of positive things to find in our communities whether its the #clapforourcarers every thursday or the half a million people that have volunteered to help the NHS at this time. There is a new sense of community. It’s about physically being distanced from people not socially distance – people are finding new ways to be there for the people who need it most while keeping 2 meters apart.

Working from home has been a good send for me. A lot of drama was going on in my office so being able to take some time away from people that make work tense has been amazing and we use Microsoft teams which is amazing. I’m weirdly being more productive than ever from home too.
I also have so much extra time without my commute and free weekends to do fun things I never normally make time for such as read, walks in the woods, painting and baking its so nice taking a step back and enjoying small things.

Now I am a realist it isn’t all about people coming together and it’s such a scary time. Its bittersweet people clapping for careers when the government we have in can’t pay the NHS workers or provide them with PPE properly. The NHS shouldn’t become a charity for the public to fund through donations but unfortunately, that’s where we are. It’s so scary people who are risking everything in their key jobs every day while you can see groups of kids in the park hanging out as if it isn’t dangerous right now.
The selfish stock pilling makes me so sad as does the over-cleaning. Everyone should be washing their hands more than usual and still cleaning properly but its scary the amount of toxic waste that’s being created where people are now going backwards in terms of sustainability. Using single-use plastic gloves all day instead of washing their hands. Bleaching cardboard packing, the WHO said it can’t be spread via packaging on products but there are endless bin bags of single-use wet-wipes covered in bleach and so much unnecessary waste, it makes me so sad.
Everyone deals with this differently and I am in such a privileged position to be working from home and not being effected financially by this.
How are you in this scary time? Are you adjusting better as each week goes on or getting more anxious? I hope you are all okay if you need to chat message me on Instagram (@afashionoddity).
Whatever you do this sunny Easter weekend stay at home and look after yourself.
