I know I am super late getting this out, however, we still have over a week of mad rush last-minute shopping to go. Plus this list isn’t limited to Christmas presents but in general I want to recommend these brands for any future shopping. It’s so important to shop local and be more sustainable so I thought I’d share some cornish gifts. I’ve also tried to stick with more stocking filler under £15 price mark ideas so this should be realistic.
There are so many amazing brands to choose from, I could write this all day but I’ve chosen a select few I would love to receive this Christmas. Some of which I already own or others I have bought from family and have wrapped up. I’ve also chosen some bits you can order online from anywhere so you can get last-minute cornish gifts by post.
Food is one thing Cornwall is famous for and of course, if you are looking for the main present you could gift someone a voucher for one the 100’s of amazing restaurants in Cornwall or you could head to https://www.thecornishfoodboxcompany.co.uk/ and get a cornish gift hamper.
My top three suggestions is a gift set from Dead Man’s Fingers possibly the greatest rum in the world. You get a 5cl bottle of each flavour so any rum fan to try this is perfect. Dead Man’s fingers is crafted at the Rum and Crab shack in St.Ives but this gift set I’ve noticed available on Amazon, Next and more so it’s definitely not limited to us Cornish living folk.
The Cornish larder is an amazing brand all about collaboration. Each condiment is a collaboration between another local brand such as Apple Chuctny with St.Ives cider or tomato relish with Dead man’s fingers rum. Things like local jams, chutneys and relishes are perfect extra stocking fillers for any foodie or great if you are making your own hampers.
There is plenty of local chocolates and fudges to gift but one I just recently fell in love with is Josh’s chocolate. Josh’s chocolate bars are locally made with the flavours inspired by cornish experiences such as Ramble in the woods which is blackberries and hazelnut. The packaging is my favourite part full of beautiful illustrations.
We have some amazing Cornish clothing brands that are getting really big that are a safe bet for great gifts such as Seasalt, Finistere or Frugi but I’d thought I’d mention some you may not know.
First, of if you are based in Cornwall you should head to Ula Clothing in either St.Ives or Hayle they stock loads of clothing brands as well as beautiful homeware but the one thing that always stands out for me is their silk range featuring kimonos and scarfs in beautiful print like the wave (pictured above).
Next is some sustainable, organic skincare from The coconut bee – we all get smellies at Christmas so make a change to give more sustainable smellies like these. The stock both skincare and hair products all ethically made and produced in Cornwall. Who doesn’t want locally made cornish beauty products?
Finally jewellery from Best Makes. I’ve been obsessed with these guys for a while now after repeatedly coming across their unique earnings in shops such as inhabit in Truro. I was recently gifted a selection of earnings which you’ll be seeing more of soon. They are handmade from different clays into amazing colours and shapes from leopard print styles or hoops whatever your style you can probably find a pair from these lovely ladies.
The grandma in me loves to gift books, I always try to buy people books for Christmas even if I know they aren’t massive readers its just great to keep paper books alive.
Eat Surf Live is a guide to Cornish travel full of recommendations this is perfect for anyone who loves Cornwall even if they just get to come down once every few years. It’s more than a travel guide full of essays, recipes and photography its a beautiful coffee table book.
Next up is Cornish Recipes a beautiful mini recipe book by Tamar Swift. It does exactly as the name says and teaches you how to create amazing traditional cornish dishes at home full of bits of history and beautiful illustrations but it’s small enough to fit in a stocking and not take up much space on a bookshelf.
My final cornish gift…. for now, is The Salt Path by Raynor Win. If you are even remotely into books you must have heard of this award-winning book. It’s an inspiring story of Raynor Win’s memoir as she and her ill husband go on an adventure across the south-west coast path walking from Somerset to Dorest via Devon and Cornwall.
