The most versatile trend yet – the statement collar blouse

June 24, 2020

Hey, In a bid to buy less we should make sure those things we do purchase are versatile right? Well I don’t think I’ve ever bought something so trend led yet so versatile than this statement collar blouse. The white blouse is a classic staple piece that every wardrobe supposedly needs although I’ve never been a big fan. This spring however these shirts with statement collars were everywhere. I don’t know why I wanted one, the puffed sleeves and big frills are not my normal style. My new passion for the vintage look since Little Women took over my life may be partly to blame but I was hugely influenced by my friend Immy and her blog post here.

statement collar blouse,

I took a risk, stepped outside of my comfort zone and order the blouse of the season from Mango. Get ready for another long post as I’ve found endless ways to style this shirt up and down.

This look is perfect for work (if we ever go back to the office) – if like me at first you find this blouse a bit too ‘girlie’ or ‘frilly’ teaming it with some contrasting check trousers like these old Topshop ones is a perfect clash.

Next up is a completely different look for summer. I’ve worn the blouse underneath my favourite summer dress (Previously gifted from Pink Lemons boutique). I think any pinafore style dress will look all the more special with a collar like this underneath.

60s suit, vintage fashion,

Next up and possibly my favourite look in this post is this suit (Old Miss. Selfridge). This look is so classic it even gives me Mrs. Maisel vibes. Sometimes when a suit is so perfect you don’t want to mess around with it. As much as I love playing with a graphic tea and suits sometimes a white blouse is the only way. I think these two are a match made in heaven. It’s one of those easy to style but you feel so put together in looks which is what we all need.

In case you haven’t gathered by now we don’t really care about the blouse its just the collar so why not use it to upgrade the most casual of looks a jean and sweater (jumper old Topshop) with this statement collar pocking out. It still feels super comfy and casual but just with an extra special touch and I am so here for it.

& other stories, jumper, statement collar blouse,

For my final look I thought I’d take a peak ahead to winter and simillarly to the last look upgrade my favourite outfit. We all know jeans and a good quality knit becomes my uniform in the winter months I find it gets a bit less fashion and more just about ease but with the collar pocking out its automatically more fun. This & Other Stories jumper is still one of my favourite pieces I bought in the last few years so I am glad to know its going to get just as much wear next winter with the collar trend carrying on.

Have you ever known one piece fit into so many different outfits, styles and seasons like this? Let me know in the comments you favourite look and how you’d style up this collared shirt. I think the only look I’m yet to try is with a vintage band tee but watch this space.

Love Charlotte, xxx
