Falling in love with Vintage

January 19, 2020

Hey guys, as we all are I am trying to make more wardrobe more sustainable, anyway I can.

I am in no means cutting out shopping at chain shops completely. As a child it wasn’t really encouraged to shop second hand, my mum still hates anything second hand and will only step foot in a charity shop to donate. We still didn’t buy expensive clothes but everything we bought would always be in the sale which is the same thrill as finding a bargain in the charity shop.

I still haven’t mastered charity shopping but vintage shopping is a different kettle of fish. As I got older my style became more and more influenced by musicians I love from Prince to Dolly Parton (another post on music and fashion coming soon) This is partly where my love for vintage clothes came alive. Being able to dress in clothes genuinely from those areas and styles is super cool. Not only is it cool but it’s super sustainable and the clothes were usually much better quality than the fast fashion efforts now.

I bought this black lace blouse in Cow vintage a few months ago in Birmingham what’s great is there are countless versions of this style on the high street right now, it even works with the organza sleeve trend that is huge right now. Lady K Loves is a really cool, affordable and sustainable brand inspired by everything vintage notably the rockabilly era and it’s amazing. I’m in love with the colour of this skirt, the a-line fit made me feel very kick-ass.

It’s 2020 I don’t need to preach about how cool vintage shopping is but in Cornwall its not so easy but my two favourites are Enjoy vintage in Truro (where these photos were shot by Snapshaphotography) and Wild Pony in Falmouth.

Where is your favourite place to shop vintage?

Love Charlotte
