Independent businesses have been hit really hard by Lockdown but as lockdown begins to ease there is some good news for both the restaurants and us foodies.

The government has announced a ‘Eat out to help out’ scheme to encourage us to go out and support the hospitality industry. Throughout the month of August participating restaurants will offer you 50% off (up to £10 per person) on Mon-Weds. The money you save on the meal the government repay back to the business so it’s a win-win for everyone.

A lot of big chains have signed up pretty quickly but most of those chains don’t even have a venue in Cornwall plus at this time more than ever it’s so important to choose an independent over a chain.

I’ve created a list of my favourite restaurants in Cornwall taking part in the Eat out to help out scheme. I am so excited to take advantage of this offer and enjoy some of the amazing food Cornwall has to offer for a bargain. I will keep updating this list as more restaurants join the scheme so do check back.

The Greenbank

The Greenbank is a gorgeous hotel and restaurant in the heart of Falmouth. I had one of the best meals ever here a few years ago and have been back for afternoon tea. The Greenbank is offering 50% off a £10 spend on lunch and afternoon tea.

The Working boat

The working boat is a gastropub below the Greenbank – with the most amazing views of Falmouth across to Flushing. The working boat are offering 50% a £10 spend with lunch and dinner menu. Enjoy an amazing fish and chip meal in the sun with that view for a bargain.

The Alverton hotel

The Alverton is located in Truro, in a beautiful Grade II listed building, hidden away from the city. They are offering 50% off for lunch, dinner and afternoon tea.

Mannings hotel

Mannings hotel is by far one of the best restaurants in Truro and they have adapted to the current situation but creating an amazing secret garden venue. A beautiful terrace in the city centre to enjoy cocktails and amazing Asian inspired menu – this new space is on the top of my list to enjoy this August.

The headland hotel

The headland hotel is one of Newquay’s most loved destinations. Nestled on the cliff top with spectacular views – now is the time to enjoy their restaurant with 50% off.

Peterville Inn St.Agnes

The Peterville inn has recently come under new management and is a beautiful pub full of Cornish history dating back to the 1800s where the tin miners would go. Serving traditional Cornish pub food – now with 50% off during August it’s amazing. I recommend heading here for a long lunch after a coast walk in St.Agnes.

Firehouse bar & Grill

Firehouse Grill is situated in the heart of St.Ives along Fore street. This is my top recommendation for meat lovers the steak, mixed grills and rotisserie chicken are all top quality – plus they have the biggest gin selection. People will rush to the busy restaurants on the seafront purely for a view but don’t be mistaken you still get an amazing view of the harbour from the firehouse, so it really is a hidden gem.

Jubilee pool cafe

The historic Jubilee pool situated in Penzance is a must-visit and I always recommend it (read more here). But it’s not just a beautiful art deco lido the on-site cafe serves amazing food. A menu full of amazing seafood and pizzas it really is perfect to watch the sunset over the lido. They are offering up to £10 off per person on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Chain Locker

The chain locker (previous review here), Falmouth is one of Falmouth oldest and most loved pubs. Now owned by St.Austell brewery (all of the St. Austell brewery pubs and restaurants are taking part) it has become an amazing place for high-quality dinner too. The views of Falmouth’s harbour paired with the most amazing fish and chips is perfect.

12Beach road

12 Beach Road is situated in Newquay with amazing views of the sea at Towan beach. Whether you want a healthy brunch, pizza or fish tacos the food at 12 Beach road is amazing. They are offering 50% off with the scheme on Wednesdays.

Polurrian on the Lizard

The Polurrian hotel is hidden away in the most beautiful part of the Lizard and what a perfect time to try somewhere slightly more luxurious with this offer. The dining room at the hotel is described as relaxed dining with the highest quality Cornish food.

The Royal Duchy hotel

The royal duchy in Falmouth is a beautiful award-winning traditional hotel. If like me you’d love to take advantage of the offer to try luxury food you wouldn’t normally afford head to the duchy. The hotel holds AA rosette awards for traditional fine cooking with a twist. Not forgetting the perfect location of castle beach and Pendennis Castle in Falmouth.

IndiDog

One of my favourite restaurants in Falmouth. Whether you want brunch, coffee and cake or a high-class diner I will recommend IndiDog. Indidog is still a fairly new edition to Falmouth but has the perfect blend of high-quality local food with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. There is nowhere else I’d rather sit an enjoy a good meal with friends than right on the water. P.S I highly recommend their famous seafood chowder in the day or the steak in the evening.

Lily’s of Truro

I mainly focused on restaurants in this post but how could I forget Lily’s – they will be offering 50% off up to £10 Mon-Weds which is perfect for a wholesome lunch out. Lily’s is my go-to place in Truro when shopping or working whether is brunch or for cake. I usually get one of their smoothies and work there all day.

I for one am so excited for this scheme to take place and will be taking full advantages of the offer as and when I can. Where will you Eat out to help out in Cornwall this summer?
