Florals for spring? How groundbreaking

July 7, 2020

Dress – ASOS | Jacket – ASOS

This dress was a bit of an impulse purchase. I had done so well all season to only buy one or two pieces I needed and had been lusting after for a long time. Until this dress. I got sucked into the ‘EXTRA 20% off sale for two hours’ code on ASOS as my boyfriend was ordering something.

However its a rare impulse purchase that was a success, I had been desperate for a dress that is comfy on but also smart enough for summer events like weddings. As much as I adore this summer big trend of big sleeves and all the exaggerated sleeves across Instagram for me I feel like they are only suitable for big events or ‘the gram’ so this is a much more versatile option. Plus this spaghetti strap slip dress shape is so timeless, it’s cool nearly every summer. I do hope the big sleeves stay around for a few more seasons though.

What makes it even more versatile is the base is actually black so I will be wearing it well into the winter with a black chunky knit over the top or a black turtle neck top underneath. But for now, the lilac of the flowers matches perfectly with this leather blazer and my cord jacket – a match made in styling heaven.

I really think yellow and purple is my new favourite colour combination

It’s very rare that a naughty impulse sale find can fit this well and actually work with so much of my existing wardrobe so well. What’s your best impulse purchase like this?
