Hey guys, as you may have seen me complaining about on Instagram (@afashionoddity) I’ve been struggling to get to the beach at the moment. I live in Mid-Cornwall, I work in Falmouth one of the main beach towns with 3 plus beaches but due to not driving and the dark nights I just don’t seem to get out to sea. It’s not great and I always keep reminding myself to really make the most of my time in Cornwall.
Living in Cornwall and not being able to drive is a nightmare. As a student at Falmouth uni it was fine but now it’s tricky.

This weekend we took a trip to Godrevy beach, its only about 15 mins in the car from where I live, a beautiful beach on the North Coast (not too far from Hayle and St.Ives). It is possibly my favourite beach I’ve been to in Cornwall. There are panoramic views from St.Ives bay across to the Godrevy lighthouse. Plus over the sand dunes, you can find one of my favourite restaurants The Rockpool which is amazing for seafood. In the main Godrevy car park, there is also a lovely cafe with amazing brunches and cakes.

Onto the most exciting part of these photos, this jumper. As I do every January I went a little bit wild treating myself in the January sales (as you would have seen many a haul on Instagram stories). The biggest treat was I caved in all my wishing and made an & Other Stories order. As you know by now I am a 100% highstreet girl. I’ve never even been into mid-market brands but & Other stories is one I have slowly been falling in love with. I feel like over the last two years they’ve blown up. 9 times out of 10 I see an item I want on Instagram chances are it’s from & Other Stories, and the first time I went into a physical store I was in awe.
Yet obviously I still found everything too expensive. Slowly came the end of January with the extra 20% off sale codes and I had Christmas bonus I sensibly put straight in my savings so used that to justify a treat. I only ordered 3 things (two of which I’d had my eye since like October) but still spent more than I normally would in one transaction. I’m sure all three pieces will soon make it onto A Fashion Oddity.
As someone who has never really shopped higher market (not even a designer bag for a special birthday), I was so curious to see if I would be able to notice a difference in the quality. By god was I pleasantly surprised. Instantly the quality of this knit compared to the acrylic fabric that most of my jumpers are made from is insane. I think this jumper will overtake this old pink one as my favourite for go-to jeans and jumper look until Spring comes along.
What’s your favourite brand for a taste of luxury?
