Love it or hate it it’s been a marmite trend that comes and goes most summers, but this year it’s gone to new highest. It’s now so much more than vintage tie-dye t-shirts. We all went there in the 90s trying to home die our whole wardrobe I remember in the mid-noughties thinking tie-dye denim, the likes of acid wash jeans and shorts being the coolest thing ever. Which I’m not going to lie it still can look pretty damn cool but it only really fits a pre-teen mid-noughties vibe. If you are going to a festival it’s the best trend but for the rest of our day to day lives not so much.
Until this summer, the tie-dye trend has grown up with us. The high street and runway have been full of slightly more tasteful ways to touch on this trend. From silk midi skirts to clashing blazers it’s been reinvented. A trend still full of colour and clashing but in a new way and I am obsessed.
This dress has slowly become one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe and is the perfect example of tie-dye being smartened up. A classic silky slip dress with a new twist.

It’s both work appropriate and festival appropriate at the same time, in these first six months of my adult working life, working in office jobs I’ve become obsessed with finding ways to dress appropriately for the office but still have colour and personality in your outfits. Finding this balance in my work wardrobe has got even harder as this summer gets warmer.
