Summer Martini Brunch at Dirty Martini – Review

August 8, 2022

Hey, guys, I was recently invited to my local Dirty Martini in Bristol to try their new bottomless brunch and I thought I’d take you along with me. Surprisingly this was my first bottomless brunch and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve seen a lot of people moan about how “bottomless” your bottomless brunch is, so let’s see how Dirty Martini fear.

dirty martini,

Before we get into the brunch let’s talk about these trousers from Weekday, I am in love with this garish purple print plus they are super comfy, I styled them with my silver Calvin Klein loafers and a blazer.

After the warmest welcome to the bar, we were taken to our seats which had two glasses of Prosecco waiting for us, what a start. The menu is all via a QR code but that doesn’t stop the service from being so speedy, before I even had my first sip of Prosecco we were being asked for our first cocktail choices. The cocktail brunch menu includes summer twists on the classics, such as watermelon martinis and this pineapple spritz as well as favourites like espresso martinis.

Before we knew it our food arrived, the food comes in the form of a “famous brunch birdcage” and the only choice is meat, veggie or vegan and if you want veggie or vegan you have to give them notice when booking. The “brunch birdcage” features cheeseburger sliders, buttermilk chicken sliders, mac and cheese bites, tomato aranchini, veggie spring rolls and tortilla strips with dips. The food was a real disappointment the buns on both sliders were dry, over all nothing felt fresh. The best part was the mac and cheese bites, but I’ve never had a bad mac and cheese bite.

While we worked our way through “the birdcage” the staff were amazing, before I’d even take a sip of a new drink we could order another, if I had put an order in every time I’d have been on the floor. Even still I think we had over 6/7 cocktails each. I loved the watermelon martini, passion fruit and vanilla martini, pineapple spritz and the raspberry gin and tonic.

As our hour and half time slot was drawing to an end we put our last orders in, this time sampling some of the cocktails from their new Summer menu. I tried the Maui Island (Absolut vodka, Campari, mango, pineapple, citrus) and Mike went for the rather strong (Jameson Irish whiskey, Nectarine, apricot, white grape & apricot soda, Supasawa) as well as some new Shot tails, these are shots but not as you know them. I went for the Mango springs and Mike went for the Baby Guinness shottail, which were the nicest shots I’ve ever done. All of these special summer cocktails are available during the happy hour times too which is amazing, because I need another one of those Maui Island’s.

So whats my overall verdict? The summer brunch costs £37.50 per person and I initially thought there was no way it could be worth that but for the number of cocktails you get, that do cost around £10 each it is really good value. Just don’t get too excited about the food. I think that’s the key with bottomless brunch, if the food is really high quality and fresh you will probably get about two glasses of Prosecco, if you get Prosecco on arrival and around 6-8 cocktails, the food really doesn’t matter.
