Hey Guys, So its that time of year again. There is less than a week until Valentine’s day so its panic time. I don’t really know anyone that goes all out for Valentine’s day. I am a firm believer in spoiling your loved ones every day when it seems natural. At the same time, I think its important to do a little something on Valentine’s day, whatever suits you.
For us, the bare minimum is cards, a small gift (even just chocolates) and flowers. During my uni years, I used to go all out on the 13th, Galentine’s day with friends. A group of us girls would go out for dinner and do cards and spoil each other which I love. Whether you are single or not it’s nice to surprise the people that mean the most to you. It has a bad reputation as a cheesy holiday but I love any excuse to spoil my loved ones, be a bit romantic. Posting a personal card and sending a little something to make someone smile, what’s not to love about that.
As I said Mike and I don’t make a huge fuss for Valentine’s day, usually opting in for a movie, a drink and some chocolate at home (much like any other night together). This year I have been working with Moonpig.com on their #heartfeltwithmoonpig campaign which is supporting my idea of sharing the love any way you can. Whether it’s your best friends, your long-distance relationship or the guy you live with.
I was kindly gifted a hamper full of goodies to support the perfect date night featuring rose, truffles, a perfect partner game and more. Which is my dream – I love forcing Mike to play board games. We then got to select a few gifts for each other. I went in expecting to only see standard Valentine’s gifts which they do but I was pleasantly surprised but how much more is on offer to find personal gifts. I was so surprised by the amount of choice available. If you just want to send chocolate you have so much choice. But if you are treating someone this year there is jewellery, homeware, experience gift packages such as weekend escapes and more if your budget is bigger. I even spotted some books such as the amazing Everything I know about love by Dolly Alderton.
We covered our bases with giant personalised Dairy Milk bar for myself and a Toberlorne for Mike. Then present wise as with most guys the easiest way to please mike is with booze rather than smellies or a book so I got him a beer hamper. Unfortunately, there was not a hint of cider in sight.
Mike choose a tin candle from The Happy Newspaper company which is super cute it says ‘I’m really glad you exist’. Which is cheesy but somehow the candle doesn’t look too cheesy. I didn’t even know The Happy Newspaper company made gifts. I also got a mug gift set with the coolest boob illustrations which come with some boob truffles from a local chocolatier. I am obsessed with these bits, they aren’t too generic, super me but also perfect for anyone. The boob mug is exactly the kind of thing I’d gift girlfriends for Galentine’s.
