Hey guys, a belated Happy New year. Oh boy what a year we just had but I am not naïve that 2021 is instantly going to be better. Each year I look forward to reflecting on the last year on here (always a week late because I am still in the Twixmas / NYE party mode slump for too long).

We don’t need to dwell on the negatives of 2020 anymore but I did still have some positives. I really learnt a lot about myself, notably that I am much more of an introvert than I ever realised. I missed my friends of course but as I live so far away from everyone anyway I’m used to long-distance friendships. I also learnt to love working from home. The few months in the office before the lockdown was really hard for me the office felt quite toxic at times so the jump to working from home came at an amazing time for my mental health as far as getting up and going to work was concerned. I also have a very long commute so I gained over 2 hours back each day. The novelty of getting the room tidy, food shops did all in the time I’d normally still be on the train home still hasn’t worn off.
Having so much extra free time really was amazing I read more books than normal. I got to put so much more time into A Fashion Oddity – making more videos, collaborating with more brands than ever and its been amazing.

I’m not a fan of the January resolutions talk about diets or fitness, especially this year however I am a big fan of to-do lists and goals.
A few of my goals have been on my list year after year but I do work towards them such as – pass my driving test, read more, learn more Italian. We can all let ourselves off the hook with driving at the moment between 3 lockdowns and as I mentioned I did read more books than ever last year but I’ve made it a goal again to continue on that and hopefully read even more.

Each year I’ve made specific goals career-wise but this year considering its a global pandemic and we don’t need extra pressure I am being less specific. I hope to continue to be more creative – to create more video content, styling content. Improve photography further too. I am super proud of where I am in my career but I want to build on my side hustles – I want to start writing more and working creatively, I have so many ideas I just need to work through to know exactly what it means but I want to some more fashion projects where I can too.
This year is already off to a horrible start so I hope you are doing okay, I think our resolutions all need to change a bit this year – make them less specific, less pressure and essentially just to do more of what you enjoy and we can’t go too wrong.
I will be back next week with my annual favourites (films, tv shows, albums etc) of the last year then its back into the swing of all things A Fashion Oddity. Love Charlotte xxx
