Summer knitted dress!

Hey Guys,

The title of todays post may be a bit confusing knit ware in a sundress yup you heard me it is mad.

I wore this outfit on Sunday for my Nan's birthday. I got this dress last year in the summer sales in Miss.Selfridge. I wasn't very sure of it at the time (mum convinced me to buy it). I am unsure of how to the describe the material it is like colourful crochet I guess. It is very thin yet you don't need to worry about your underwear showing through. This dress amazes me. It is so beautiful to wear and unique, I have never seen anything like it. The blazer is from New Look and matches the dress perfectly. With this blazer it instantly looks more formal but I can also team it with a denim jacket for a much more casual look. I love this also because it is very comfy but it looks really effective and amazing.

Let me know in the comments what you think of this dress!

The Fault in our Stars movie reaction/review!

Hey Guys,

So I just got back from the cinema seeing The Fault in our Stars. I have read the book 3 times and it means so much to me however I wasn't that excited for the film I thought Ansel Elgort was completely wrong casting, I pictured Gus more alternative and defiantly brown hair. When the trailer was released I really didn't like it, I found it so cheesy and it looked like a chick flick. However I was still desperate to see the film and boy am I glad I did.
It was so much better than I expected. Of course it wasn't as good as the book and they left so much out but it was such a good adaptation.
Just a warning if you haven't seen it or read the book there will be spoilers!!

The Bad
  • We never met Hazels friend Kaitlyn
  • HE IS 17! AUGUSTUS WATERS IS 17 the whole film he is apparently 18! WHY!
  • Gus didn't at all mention how she looked like Natile Portman in V for Vendetta and they didn't specifically watch that film (although I did notice the poster above his bed) in this scene they also left out the mention of her being a vegetarian which I thought was important as she was shocked to see that he remembered this when they were in Amsterdam.
  • He didn't leave his phone number in 'the prince of dawn' and he didn't say 'right that's why I said tomorrow I want to see you again tonight. But I am willing to wait all night and much of tomorrow ' and how see already guessed he had left his number in the book for her and it showed how even after just meeting that same day they really did know each other so well.
  • they left out the scene where Hazel searches Gus' ex on Facebook.
  • They left out the scene in the mall where a young girl called Jackie asks Hazel about her oxygen tubes which was disappointing as John Green was an extra in that scene.
  • it annoyed me that the smashing of the trophies scene Hazel and Gus discuss An imperial affliction in the background so the audience was laughing at Isaac instead of the importance of them bonding of their love for this book.
  • In the book Isaac's operation was more of a big deal and they both visited but in the film suddenly Isaac is blind.
  • There was no poetry reading or references at all! I love when he demands her to read some poetry on the plan and when she finishes the poem later on he calls her sexy.
  • Finally there a just a few of my favourite quotes that were left out like during the sex scene she is touching Gus' amputee so he says "I am starting to think you have an amputee fetish" (referencing back to when he asked her what's your story any weird fetishes) and she replies "I have an Augustus Waters fetish" (my heart melted)! And when Hazel plays a video game with Isaac after (no spoilers although the quote will be) and Isaac says "I dislike living in a world without Augustus Waters" Computer "I don't understand" "me neither. Pause" I sob every time at this line.
The Good
  • Even though I said earlier that I felt Elgort didn't look right for the time after seeing the film I see why he was cast he was the most perfect Gus the world could have. he was so cocky, funny witty, intelligent everything that Gus should be and he really did show his love for Hazel perfectly even in the way he looked at her.
  • Everything in the Anne Fank house was done beautifully the Hazel forcing herself up those stairs was done perfectly and the kiss and the applause was perfect
  • actually everything in Amsterdam was perfect the waiter in the restaurant mentioning the stars, the scenery filmed in Amsterdam, Van Houghton, the sex scene, Gus professing that he is in love with Hazel just everything in Amsterdam was done better than I could have ever imagined.
  • Every Character was done perfectly actually even though I pictured them all differently.
  • The support group scenes were amazing! Patrick oh I wish there was more of Patrick.
  • When Gus rings her at 2am to meet him at the station I thought that was all done so beautiful and Shaline really showed the panic that she thought it was a call to say he had gone it was just acted to well.
it was simply beautiful and just an amazing film was they left bits out but most of it I can understand why and it would have been ridiculously long and even a little boring if they had shown every single thing in the book. I do prefer the book but I think that was always inevitable. I want to see it again and I think you fall in love with Hazel and Gus' relationship in a whole new way from the book.
If you haven't read the book or love it this film is perfect for everyone its funny, relatable and of course sad and frustrating bring plenty of tissues but you need to go and see this now!! I cannot wait for more Green adaptations now. This morning he just announced Looking for Alaska which I love is being made into a film.

Let me know in the comments if you have seen it and your thoughts please?
Thanks for reading and staying till the end sorry this was long and a bit of a rant.

Spring in my town!

Hey Guys,

If anyone has been reading A Fashion Oddity for awhile then you will remember a post from last Autumn called " Autumn in my town" which is one of my most popular posts and you can read it here! I waited all winter for it to snow to do a Winter in my town edition but surprisingly for the first year that I can remember we didn't get any snow so I failed to make a winter edition! Yesterday was the longest day of the year and the official first day of summer so here I am finally with the second edition 'Spring in my town'

I got to walk past this beautiful tree while in blossom every morning!

I always forget how beautiful my town is and how lucky we are to have this castle. When you pass it every day you don't appreciate it as much as the tourists.

I wonder what lives in this little whole? A part of my hopes that the answer to that question is that it leads to wonderland!!

The amazing lily's in my best friends pond in her garden (taken on a day of sunbathing and drinks)

Across to the Welsh valley

Peonies are my favourite flower and these beautiful ones started growing in my garden. I was so chuffed to get a photo before it properly blossomed and one of it now!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I think we sometimes forget how beautiful our surroundings are and the changes that the seasons bring are.

Thanks for reading!

Floral Shorts.......... A summer weekend away! #OOTD

Hey Guys,

Last weekend I went to North Devon for my Grandma's 70th birthday party. So I thought I would share with you all my summer outfit for the journey down there in the sun.

The top is a bright orange halter neck 90s style crop top (but you can't see the cute 90s style with the jacket) which I bought in Cardiff's brand new flagship Primark store (let me know if you would like to hear my thoughts on our new flagship store in the comments) for only £1.70 (I may have bought it in a few other colours too opps!) I was so happy when I noticed how perfectly it went with these little shorts I have had for years but never year. I love these shorts so much the colours are some of my favourites and they are so cute but I was never sure how to year them so this top is the perfect match.  I teamed this with my Miss Selfridge denim jacket that has sequin shoulders.

Tie-dye Jeans

Hey guys,

I am here today with an outfit post for you all. I have had these jeans for a few years now they are from the children's section in Next. They are age 16 but they were massive on me at the time. So I tried them on this morning and they now fit a lot better and I am in love with them.
I struggled with what to team them with so I did some googling and got some inspiration. I choose to layer a white vest top with this coral top, I don't think the colours clash and I was really happy with this colourful and casual summer outfit. I will defiantly be wearing these jeans a lot more.

When getting my inspiration this morning Elle Macpherson was a big winner. How beautifully does she pull these off? Queen of the Tie Dye jeans I think!

I hope you enjoyed this post, I have said recently I am trying to bring a lot more fashion into my blog and more OOTD's so here we are. Let me know in the comments what you think of these jeans?

My Bedside table Beauty Collection #2014bloggerchallenge

Hey Guys,

I wasn't too excited about the topic collections and I wasn't sure what to do but I decided to share with you all the emergency must have products that I keep on my bedside table at an arms reach.

My bedside table. I don't have a separate bedside table so this is actually just the top of my chest of drawers. I have my very early 2000's looking CD player COOL, pink lamp, some candles, a mirror, my make up brushes and the magical box of beauty among other little ornament's and things.

Skincare: My Body shop vitamin E cream cleanser - which is my number 1 all time cleanser, you need hardly any product to remove all your make up and it leaves your skin feeling amazing.
Tesco Cleanser & eye make up remover - I recently picked this up on a whim as it was only 80p, at that price I wasn't expecting anything amazing but I am pleasantly surprised (maybe a full product review coming soon)
Simple soothing facial toner - I am not a fan of tonners and hardly use them so I just have this basic but very trusty simple one for when a tonner is needed.

Hand care: Some nail files
Soap and Glory hand maid - Everyone's favourite hand sanitizer an absolute must.
The Body Sop cranberry joy hand cream and Cath Kidston hand cream in Rose & Carnation - I am a bit of a hand cream addict and these two are my favourites.
The Body Sop almond nail & cuticle oil - This is a brilliant very quick and easy treatment for those nails in need of some TLC

Skincare part 2: Simple kind to skin hydrating moisturiser - my first ever moisturiser and a big repurchase ever since, my every day moisturiser.
Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion - this is my favourite pick me up moisturiser for those tired days when my skin is feeling extra dry.
Clinique youth spurge SPF15 moisturiser - my only moisturiser with SPF in it so it is a must for the summer.
T-Zone rapid action spot zapping gel - a little drop of this amazing gel on those horrible spots and I honestly notice the difference. I use this all the time.
The Body Shop Vitamin E eye cream - I always thought eye creams were only used by the more mature woman but of course the blogging world made me purchase one and I do not regret it. This is amazing.
Natural Collection lash care mascara - I always out a bit of this on at night to help take care and hopefully help my lashes grow.

Lip care: Vaseline - An old classic that always needs to be kept near by.
Baby lips - I purchased this after the hype and really do prefer other products but some how it is still here.
Lush Santa's lip scrub -  A lush lip scrub is every bloggers essential and luckily I haven't run out of this amazing flavour yet.
Carmex moisture plus - A classic favourite of mine in a lipstick form YES PLEASE
The Body Shop blueberry lip butter - Another amazing product that tastes even better.
Marks & Spencer Lip Care - Something a little less talked about in the blogging world but this is my number one lip balm for everyday wear under lipstick or on its own.

I really hope you enjoyed seeing my favourite products. This is like a favourite products ever, skincare routine and an everyday essentials all in one posts. Let my know your must have products that you keep next to you bed in the comments!
