The Purple Dress - My own Couture Design

Hey Guys, I hope you are well and had a lovely Easter.
I recently completed a short fashion course at my college as a extra circular class. I drew up a design in the first class, then in pairs we measured each other. I then created a bodice pattern from scratch. Next I created the bodice in calico. Once I purchased my beautiful fabrics, a purple satin and a black lace I put all my skills into practise. For the corset I used rigilene  instead of boning witch is just a less stiff boning for corsets, I hand sewed a zip on the back with invisible stitching and there is a netting under layer and a third layer of lining.

As you can see in these photos it fits really well so the measuring was successful.

(Please excuse the atrocious lighting and photo quality)

I am so so so pleased with this beautiful dress especially for my first time designing and sewing properly. I cant wait to style it again and maybe even wear it out and risk spilling something on it.
Let me know if you have any questions or if you have done any similar work or anything in the comments.
Who knows maybe this is the start of C.Anstee Designs......a girl can dream!!!
Thank you so much for reading.

Spring Style #2014bloggerchallenge

Hey Guys,

This weeks #2014bloggerchallenge theme is all about spring style, I originally planned to do an outfit of the day but after watching Tanya Burrs Spring get ready with me video (watch here) I got very inspired to try something completely new with my spring make up and a new kind of post, I have never done a #FOTD or anything like this before.
The British weather has been amazing recently so we are actually having very warm spring days so I have been off college feeling very summery making smoothies and reading in the garden.

In Spring I tend to use mostly pinks a pink lipstick and blush are essential for me.
I tend to stay away from corals because they tend to suit more tanned skin tones.

I have been experimenting more and more with countering recently and for this look I brought in a bronze shimmer block. I am not very confident using bronzer because I am so pale and I hate looking unnatural. So I used an angled blush brush and applied a very small amount of powder to my cheekbones, then using a kabuki brush I blended it like blusher and brought it up towards my forehead.

I loved the bright daring blue look on Tan's eyes in her video however im not even sure she pulled it off quite right so I decided to blend more and not put in quite as deep into my inner corner or the eye for a more subtle blue effect.

For my outfit I stuck with my blue and coral make up by wearing a blue and white stripe top...oohh how nautical  and this adorable daisy necklace.

In the summer I want a much lighter coverage and because I was going to be using so much bronzer I decided not to use any foundation.

This lip stain was another one of my so called 'damaged product' finds for only £1. My post on finding amazing products for only £1 just like this lip stain.

An old palate from Claire's that I have had for years and never used but the bright blue was perfect for this look.

Products used:
  • Collection Lasting perfection concealer in the shade fair. Buy Here

MUA palette! Product Review

Hey Guys,
Today I thought I'd share with you my current go to palette and give you a quick review!
Its the MUA professionals palette in Undressed.  It contains 12 'naked' style shades with a mixture of matte shades and metallics.

My favourite shade is the second shade in on the top row, it is a shimmery pink it is such a good highlight for an evening look or it is so good to wear in the day too.
I am not normally one for a bronze eye so I mostly use the pinks and blacker shades however there are so many bronze shade which makes it so easy for me to start wearing them.

One negative with this product is that the matte colours aren't very strong and have a really bad pigmentation but considering I would say 80% of this palate is metallic then its not a major problem at all. It also comes with one of those silly eye shadow applicators that no one uses but once again it is not a problem.
Whether you are on a budget, just starting your make up collection or are an addict this palate is a must! For the bargain of £4 and such a wide range of easy to wear colours for day or night it is an absolute steal!!
Let me know in the comments if you have this product or if you would like to see a make up tutorial using this palate. I hope you enjoyed!
